Moving On East

I haven’t had much time to do anything super fun or crafty recently.  My husband and I have been busy busy packing up our packed apartment.  The silver lining in this whole situation is that I’ve uncovered lots of vintage treasures.  I’ll be adding some of these fantastic re-finds to my Etsy over the next few days.

Here’s a sneek peek at what I’ll be offering.

Progress of Quilt Gestation

Strange title.  It told me it had to be that way.

I posted photos of red prints of one of my recent illustrations.  As I had mentioned, I’ve incorporated it into a red and whilte quilt that I’m building.

Now I have the entire quilt top (measuring 95 by 85 inches) pieces and ready to go.  I have a beautiful backing fabric for it, but I’m on the hunt for the balogne part.  It’ll come, I’m on my way to visit my local Sally Ann.

Anywho, here’s a sneek peek..

Thanks to my friendly neighbourhood Cara I got a bunch of really cool Korean stickers.  I thought they’d work perfectly cast in some resin and glued to a magnet….so that’s precisely what I did!

Here’s a sneek peek at some of them.  For more details you can check out my Etsy.

This One’s for the Babies…

Just finished up making my first baby quilt.  It’s so soft and cuddly and so darn cute.  If it wasn’t so hot I’d wrap up it right now.

I think I’ll put it as my main feature on my slot for Handmade Kids on Etsy.

I just finished up my yellow and brown quilt last night and I’m just beginning to cut pieces for my next one.  I’m really digging my latest screen print design, so I’ll be integrating it into this newest piece.  The colour scheme for this one will be red and white (predominantly white with ultra cool red accents).

Anyway, here’s a sneak peek at my newest print in RED!

I finally got in some new belt buckle findings the other day.  That can only mean that I have some brand new rockin’ belt buckles.

You can check them out at my Etsy or go in person to Made 4 You in Kingston, Ontario.

Pink Loves Green

Here she is!  Finally!  My first completed quilt.  I love her and I’ll miss her.  She’s going to South Korea with someone else that I love and will miss…my stinky little CaraDee.

It’s totally machine pieced and quilted.  It took me five days of work on and off to complete it.  I made my own bias tape too (which I’m strangely proud of even though it’s extremely simple).

Newest Print

I just wanted to share my newest silk screen print with everyone.  It’s my own design, but I’m the first to admit that it’s heavily influenced by the work of Lotta Jansdotter.  Her work is so beautiful and absolutely refreshing.

I created this graphic using a combination of hand drawn illustrations, Photoshop and Microsoft Paint.  I’m pretty darn happy with the way it came out.

Right now I’m incorporating the design into a quilt I’m working on, but I have a feeling it will show up elsewhere too!

Crafting Without Thumb (Sort of)…

On July 2, 2008, in Uncategorized, by mygirlthursday

Over the last couple of weeks I have intermittently lost feeling in my left hand thumb.  I’ve been doing tonnes of scissor cutting lately and it’s taking its toll on my hand.  I’m one of those crazy lefties, but I don’t really care to invest money in a pair of left handed scissors.  Besides, I’ve never had any real issue using regular scissors.

I’m happy to say that I almost have full feeling in the thumb right now, but who knows how long that will last.  I have do cut some more record covers for new journals soon and that always seems to take it out of me.

It’s not a big deal really, but it is a little gross working with a dead digit.  All in all though, I guess it just makes me happy knowing that the little guy will come back to life eventually.
