My apartment is in full chaos.  I’m looking forward to next week when I can clean up this mess.

I still have tonnes of work to finish up, but until it’s done I thought I’d give you a couple work in progress shots.  I would have liked some prettier photos, but I don’t have time for that.

Enjoy!

For Puces Pop!

I’m really excited for this show!  I’ve been working so hard to get ready and I’m hoping I meet all my crazy deadlines.  We shall see…

If you’re in the Montreal area next weekend you should definitely check it out.  It’s going to be tonnes of fun.

All Kinds of Resin Up in Here!

Yesterday I got my order of resin in from Currys.  I was so happy because it’s nearly impossible to find epoxy resin here in Peterborough.  Anyway, I got four packages that came out to be a half a gallon of the good stuff.  After last night I only have half of it left.  After tonight I will probably have none.  Is this an addiction?  What is resin doing to me?  It’s just WAY too much fun.

Anyway, here’s what my table looked like last night.  I’m just about to bust them out of their molds now.

I’ll share more when I have them all finished up!

Now for the Buckles

I’ve got some new belt buckles too!  These are especially fun to make because I get to add captions to vintage images.

It’s great to take these to shows and meet people that think they’re funny.  I always tell my husband I’m hillarious, but he doesn’t believe me.  At least craft shows give me a chance to meet people I agree with.

Check out my Etsy for more information on these buckles!

Extra Pulp

I’ve got some new keychains all soldered up and ready to go!  I found some really great illustrations and I thought they’d be PERFECT for my microscope slide keychains.

I adore vintage illustrations from pulp novels and sources.  I’m planning on making some more with similar illustrations and others with pin-up girls.  Serious classiness at its finest.

Severely Annoying

After a monumentally bad start to my day I began to finally understand my new school schedule.  I tracked down the ID photo place and finally got my hot hands on my student card.  Free bus rides and library books for me!

Anyway, I was sitting around school and I realized that I had a good 4 hours before my next class.  Well, home is only two bus rides away so away I went.  The bus shows up at Trent pretty often, but the wait at the terminal can be a bit longer.  When I got to the station I stacked out a nice bench seat and pulled out my new laptop.  I had tonnes of new photos to edit for my Etsy, so I started my cropping and all that jazz.

So I’m working away and then some totally creeped out dude strolls up and starts blabbing about what a diligent student I am.  Well, whatever.  I’m not up for stranger talk but I gave him a half hearted smile and got back to my work.  Suddenly Mr Creepy Pants walks up to me and cranes his head around so he can see what I’m working on.  He smacks out “You workin hard on your homework?!”  I’m so freaked out and honestly offended that I just answer him with a flat no and put my head down again.  He has the nerve to give me a dirty look and walk away like I was rude!

Seriously?!  I get the attitude about that?  What the crap is going on?  If I walked up to someone reading their mail and did that, I would KNOW that I was being rude.  I would KNOW I was being invasive.  I would KNOW that I had violated your personal space.  Actually, I would KNOW not to do that so this is all irrelevant.  It really bothers me that he acted like I did something I shouldn’t have.

Anyway, if I could knit this is what I’d be working on….

Forget Kenley…I’m a Leanimal!

I have to say that I’m totally put off of Kenley.  After these past few shows I’ve decided that I quit her team.

Normally you don’t get to know the person behind the designs, so this whole process of getting to know the designer is irregular.  But I guess that after all that blabbing, I’m trying to say is that I’m not a fan of Kenley as a person and that’s effecting how I’m feeling about her work.  I’m bothered by the fact that she seems SO sure of her designs.  Although I can appreciate a healthy sense of confidence, I think one must be willing to take a critical eye to their own work.  Otherwise how the heck do you grow as an artist or person or friend or partner?

And besides that, her designs weren’t all that she thought they were.  Kenley the boobs WERE drooping!  Heidi wasn’t talking nonsense.  The outfit was not a clear reflection of an Aquarius.  You’re nuts.

Forget it all!  I’m a Leanimal from now on.  Her designs are innovative yet simple.  She’s adorable and not terribly catty.  She’s a brilliant designer, but aware of when she makes a mistake.  She can appreciate critisism and grow from it.  Did I mention that she’s brilliant?  I adore her.  Plus she’s an Etsian.  What more can I say?  Maybe that I love her work.  I want her work all over me (creepy right – but it’s clothes).

Lucky Matryoshkas

I had another giant thrifty find the other day!  Two matryoshka dolls in one bag!  They were all seperated and I couldn’t tell if all the tops and bottoms were there, but it was worth the risk and I bought it straight away.

Here’s a couple pictures of my new favourite pieces.  They’ll be up on my Etsy in the next few days.

As I mentioned earlier, I did some seriously thrifty shopping last weekend.  I was lucky enough to score a major jackpot in the vintage sewing pattern department.  Here’s a collection of just some of the patterns that will soon be available through my Etsy site.

Each of the patterns featured in this collage are UNCUT!

It’s (Fraternal) Twins!

These babies were born (or finished – semantics really) just hours apart!

I had been working on both of these quilts simultaneously, so it makes sense that I would finish them up in one craft heavy evening.

The white, blue and tangerine quilt was created using a collection of vintage fabrics.  The white chenille was originally one giant bed spread, but due to some minor stains it had lost a great deal of it’s appeal.  The orange and blue patterned fabrics are also from vintage bedding.  This colour scheme is one of my favourites right now and it’s commonly featured as a theme on Etsy.

The red and white quilt was featured on this blog in the past.  Back then it was much wider than the actual finished piece.  That quilt was made using vintage and recycled fabrics like thin cordouroy, red polka dot napkins and silkscreened bed sheets.  I even carved a little stamp to add some character to some of the big red dots throughout the quilt top.

I will be adding both of these quilts to my Etsy, but they may be for sale in a brick and morter location eventually.  I just hope that someday they find a home where they’re loved.
