Exciting news (for me)!  I finally took the plunge and bought a fancy-pants darning foot for my new sewing machine.  The whole reason I bought my newest machine was because I wanted to take up free motion embroidery, but I couldn’t get started until I had this foot.

It will arrive in the next few weeks and then the fun will begin.  The form of embroidery is so exciting to me, I hope I have some success with it.  I’ll be sure to share some of my pieces with you all.

For now I thought I’d share some of my favourite free-motion embroidery inspirations:

Here are a shot of the project I was working on during IBTOY’s sew-along.  I’m planning on making it into a quilt block that will inspire and spawn a whole bunch of other blocks.

The embroidery reads “since always in your dreams.”  Does anyone know what thats from?

d.i.y. laundry soap

The laundry soap pail is empty and its high time to refill it.  I thought I’d take a moment to share my favourite “recipe” with you all.

I started making my own soap about seven months ago after finding it way too frustrating to find an affordable green and fragrance free option.  We do copious amounts of washing and it was becoming far to expensive to buy soap week after week.

Now a load of laundry only costs about 6 cents per load (as compared to the 60 cents it was costing with the store-bought option).

Below is my favourite recipe, but check out this link for more d.i.y. concoctions.

12 cups Borax
8 cups Baking Soda
8 cups Washing Soda
8 cups Bar soap (grated)

Mix all ingredients well and store in a sealed tub.  Use 1/8 cup of powder per full load.

Here’s some links to some of my favourite projects:

Peruse the 100 yourself and enjoy the inspiration!

This is my favourite.

I love when she snuggles up to my chest and just sleeps the afternoon away.  But the best, the absolute best, is when she moves her head and all that is left behind is a sweet little ear print on my chest.  Its like she’s listening to home.

Georgia and Adelaide temporarily put a halt to their little war for some peace talks.

The little miss found her favourite burping position.

And she broke my heart about a million times with her severe cuteness.

I’ve been looking for a fairly simple online craft-along type of event for some time now and I think I’ve finally found the one for me (and hopefully you)!

The other day when I was bumbling around the internet I found a posting about the Sew Sew Sewing Circle event hosted by I’ve Been Thinking of You (via Hand Embroidery Network).  It’s an international sewing circle and the first craft night will take place on Wednesday, January 13th from noon to midnight.  What I love about this is that the project is small, self-led and doesn’t have to be completed all in the same day.

Here are the rules (click for a much larger view):

Lots of fun could be had here, I’m kind of excited for this one!

Head on over to the I’ve Been Thinking of You blog or Facebook page for more information.

Actor khan Rukh Khan and sex sells in Bollywood but now it seems that Neha Dhupia is now tired of the ’sexy’ tag, which she believes has worked against her.Neha Dhupia, a former Miss India, who started her Bollywood journey with some bold roles like Qayamat and Julie, now finds that despite having tried hard and  done some very serious roles, she hasnt been taken seriously in the bollywood industry because of her ‘hot’ and ’sexy’ image.Neha Dhupia adds “None seems to realise that I can do a lot more. Why don’t people remember Dasvidaniya, Singh Is Kinng, Mithya, or a Maharathi.”

Ask her about the bollywood actresses who’ll do anything to trade places with her and pat comes the reply, “The Interesting fact that we forget is that grass looks like greener on the other side.”

“I strongly believe that my biggest flaw is that I am sexy. Just because of that, it is always safely presumed that I would be busy out there seducing people on screen,” Neha Dhupia says

The 29-year-old bollywood actress, however, is happy about the compliments & credits that she has earned for her recent success in comic caper movie De Dana Dan. She is currently looking forward to the audience reaction towards her forthcoming Bollywood release Raat Gayi Baat Gayi.

Neha Dhupia’s very first shot in debut “Qayamat” saw her emerging from sea wearing a swimsuit and her next release was Julie, which despite its success has placed the bollywood actress in a bracket from which it has been a difficult task to come out.

Her subsequent Bollywood releases like Sheesha, where she has played the role of a seductress and Teesri Aankh – The Hidden Camera, where she played a porn film victim, didn’t help her cause either.

Neha Dhupia decided to come out of her ’sex siren’ image by accepting a strong supporting role

Aamir-Khan-Kareena-Kapoor-200x277When terrorism is at the backdrop of the film, music needs to be composed keeping in mind the very fact. Karan Johar for the very first time tried his hand in terrorism and he has kept the music limited and of good quality. After the musical success of films like ‘Fashion’ and ‘Wake Up Sid’, composer Salim-Sulaiman has gone a long way and they have evolved as an eminent music composer. Kurbaan is a difficult theme as the music needs to be a combination of love and terror. Keeping a balance of the two, the music of Kurbaan has been composed and the outcome seems to be fabulous till now.

The expectation from the film is sky-high as the real life couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are playing the pivotal role. The promo of the film has done its work and now the audience is looking forward to the movie. Coming to the music, the music of ‘Kurbaan’ has all the ingredients of a perfect music. Salim-Sulaiman’s music and Niranjan Iyengar’s lyrics has done the charisma. Singers like Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Marianne D’Cruz Aiman, Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani, Sonu Niigaam, Shruti Pathak and Shreya Ghoshal have landed their magical vocals.

The album opens with Shukran Allah Wal-hamdulillah. If you like the song Subhan Allah from Fanaa then you will surely like Shukran Allah, which has a Sufi touch. Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal are in their romantic best and they have really put soul to the song. Salim caught the Arabic lines and the song was beautifully composed and sung. The music arrangements are tremendous and one would feel the essence of the song.
