Here is my sweet, blissed out kitten Adelaide after watching many hours of Gilmore Girls. She’s passed out by the remotes, dreaming of quick witted remarks for all of her imaginary cat friends.

and a stitch is one. Actually, right now it feels like stitches are all the problems I have (tough life huh?).
Tonight I’ve been searching and searching for a cool embroidery sampler by some perfect indie illustrator/pattern maker. This is not as easy as it seems apparantly. I’ve searched Etsy and Google, but I’m running out of steam before I’m running out of hits. I’ll keep trying later, but I did manage to find one very exciting pattern from the folks at Sublime Stitching. I’m feeling out of the loop, but it seems that they have licenced some work from Daniel Johnston.

The madness has begun. I’m starting to lust after all things baby. I’m even feeling inspired enough to get off my lazy bum and craft. Here’s two of the books I’ve been coveting.

In “Simple Sewing for Baby Lotta Jansdotter” shows how easy it is to make cheerful gifts for little cherubs. A new mother herself, Lotta includes projects that match her simple style with practicality making for sweet, yet durable, essentials for any rumble-tumble baby. Inside readers will find 24 patterns for baby hats, bibs, a diaper bag built for the back of a stroller, a ribbon-tag blankie perfect for baby to teethe on, and many more pint-sized projects. Beautiful photographs of the finished projects inspire while clear step-by-step instructions and how-to illustrations make for foolproof crafting. With ready-to-use pattern sheets included in the handy front pocket and stencil templates at back, “Simple Sewing for Baby” makes it easy to stitch up modern accessories sure to please both baby and mom.

Handmade Home offers simple sewing and craft projects for the home that reflect the needs, activities, and personalities of today’s families. Filled with thirty-three projects made by reusing and repurposing materials—from vintage feedsacks to old sheets and towels—and including some projects that children can help with, all of the items here offer a practical use in the home. Amanda Soule does much more than simply present a collection of handmade items; she reveals crafting as a lifestyle based on the principles of consuming less and reusing more, appreciating the earth, and connecting to our families. This is a craft book that gives you the tools for creating a life—and a home—full of beauty, integrity, and joy.
Projects include:
• Papa’s Healing Cozy
• Baby Sling
• Beach Blanket To-Go
• Cozy Wall Pockets
Not only is Project Runway returning on August 20th, but I just found out that the premier will be preceded by a two hour All Star Challenge. People in the know were aware of this weeks ago, but people like me enjoy the coziness of the underside of a rock. Regardless – this is a very exciting news. Lots of my old favourites will be returning for this teeny tiny special – it’s going to be wonderful.
The returning designers will be:
Santino Rice (season two)
Sweet P (season four)
Mychael Knight (season three)
Korto Momolu (season five runner-up)
Chris March (season four)
Uli Herzner (season three runner-up)
Jeffrey Sebelia (season three winner)
Daniel Vosovic (season two runner-up)
Try as I might to get a video preview I could not. I guess I’ll have to want another week until the thing actually airs.
THEN, oh then (!), a full season of suicide inducing challenges will begin. And they say Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. If you’d like to check out the bio’s of the upcoming designers you can check out the Lifetime website.
On Monday, I got to go to my sixth Tori show. This time the show was at Massey Hall and I managed to get some amazing (!) seats in the second row. It was such a great night, I was so happy to see her again.
The set list included:
Lizard Lounge
(band returns)
Encore
So, so, so much fun!
