I really, really enjoy the top 100 lists that are put together over at The Long Thread.  Last January a friend sent me a link to their 2008 list, and I’ve checked back with it all year.  It’s January once again and I’m so looking forward to spending some quality time with the 2009 edition.

Here’s some links to some of my favourite projects:

Bunny Bowling

Owl Costume

Log Cabin Wash Cloths

Fabric Scrap Bowl

Peruse the 100 yourself and enjoy the inspiration!

I won!

I won!

I won!

My long, cursed spell of raffle losing has finally been broken.  This morning I woke up to a nice little note from Between the lines letting me know that I had won their December giveaway.  What a cute little bag!  I am a lucky girl.

I found this contest via Sew, Mama, Sew’s December 2009 giveaway list.  Make sure you keep a close eye on this blog for future raffle lists.  So much fun surfing all the handmade blogs  – especially when there’s a chance to win!

Thanks again to Between the lines!  I can’t wait to use my cute new bag.

Wowzers!  I seem to be existing in the place where time is moving super fast and slow all at once.  Every day just seems to zip by, but at the end of each of them I feel like I’ve accomplished very little.  Or I guess I should say that I’m accomplishing little other than what my “nesting” instincts dictate (I’ll share more about that later).

A couple weeks ago my partner and I had the very talented Desiree Fawn take some photos of us pre-baby.  Not only did we get some really lovely pictures/memories, but she was a wonderful photographer and eased my camera shy jitters more than most have been able to.

I thought I’d share a couple of my favourite shots, and then send you on over to her Flickr stream to check out the rest of them.

latest obsession: regretsy

This is the blog that everyone wanted but was too afraid to create!

Regretsy is terribly entertaining site and somehow a wonderful marketing tool for some of Etsy’s stranger handmade goods.  Already generating huge online buzz, this site draws tonnes of traffic and treats them to quick doses of Helen Killer’s undeniable wit.

Like it or not, this site will be around for a while.  But if you can take a little taunting you may sell that denture key chain in spite of the numerous spelling and grammatical errors in your item description (oh, and the item itself).

Check Regretsy on a regular basis.  It’s already pulled me out of a crappy mood several times in its short life span.

I have to admit that my head has been in Christmas-land for the last few weeks, but I think it’s finally time to take a break and backtrack to Halloween-ville.  I really enjoy Halloween, but for the past few years I haven’t really had the chance to celebrate (okay, I’ve been lazy too).

This time around I have someone in my life who is very into this holiday.  We’ve been searching the internet for costume ideas, and there certainly is not a lack of them.  I wanted to share one of my favourite costume related sites – WTF Costumes.  It’s full of some seriously strange/funny/disturbing dress up ideas for this, the spookiest of celebrations.

Pebble Quilting Demo

Originally uploaded by handmadebyalissa

I happened across this posting today and it got me feeling particularly inspired.  Frenzied and inspired.  Since watching it I’ve been searching the internet for a new machine.  I love my Old Blue, but it’s a very small model and it doesn’t have a lot of space for quilting.  I also need (want) a bunch of new attachments in order to do some free motion embroidery.

Oh gosh, I’m so excited. I’m hoping that I’ll have some happy new machine news within the next day or two.

Design*Sponge will be offering a free monthly download of a desktop calender!  Each month they will feature a new artist.  I already have September up and ready to go on my desktop.  Can’t wait to see what’s (and who is) in store for October.

Thanks so much for this!

I’m really digging Craftig!  It’s a new social networking site meant specifically for crafters.  Sorted into a number of subject categories you can search for or add web sites, tutorials, articles and lots more.  Personally I’m going into tutorial overload.

It’s seems to be in its early stages still, but every day it seems to gain more users and more postings.  I can’t wait until it’s had a little more time and more people are adding their favourite pages.

Mer Mag‘s drawings on fabric are so simple but totally captivating.  I have some serious doodle envy happening.  I may just have to grab some fabric markers for myself and get to work.

Just happened upon this piece in the most recent Craft Flickr Pool update.  Muchodesign has created a simple embroidery piece inspired by the final print copy of Craft magazing.

Check out her Etsy to see the listing for yourself or her Flickr profile for more of her shots.
