Before Puces Pop and stopping off in Kingston, I had a lot more of these belt buckles!  Parting is such sweet - forget it, parting is just fine!  I’m hoping they all find happy new homes.

Here’s a peek at the newest buckles being added to my Etsy.

My Weekend

I’m finally home after a long weekend of crafting, travelling and selling.  As I mentioned before, I took part in the annual Women’s Art Festival in Kingston, Ontario.  Sunday was a beautiful day.  It started off sunny with a nice light breeze, but the humidity quickly amped itself up and I was sweating buckets!  I had lots of people stop by to say hello and check out my new wares.  On Friday and Saturday I made a new line of fridge magnets (I’ll tell you more about them later) and I got some positive feedback on those.  Lots of my resin belt buckles found happy new homes and I’m pleased with that.

I spent most of Monday lost.  My doctor relocated her office and it’s not listed at all.  At one point I was on the phone with 411 and unknowingly sitting about 7 steps away from her office.  Thank goodness I started looking for her office with at least an hour to spare.  I found her just time time.  Just in time to sit for another hour in the waiting room.  A little annoying, but such is life at the end of the business day.

I also added to my injuries list while I was away.  I had a 6am fall down the stairs while I was carrying a tub of crafts.  The silver lining is that it woke me up (or shook me up) just in time for my hour long drive to the art festival.  I have a pretty (painful) carpet burn up my forarm and on my left knee.  Even tonight I slipped and fell in my craft room.  If standing on my two feet wasn’t so convinient I would stop it at this point.

Earlier today I got to take a trip to one of my favourite thrift stores in the world.  I bought a cart full of clothing, books, knick knacks and fabric for just over $80.  My grandmother thinks my husband is going to divorce me for bring home so much “junk.”  She’s the one that trained me to thrift store shop – she should know better than to call it junk.  A shameful word indeed.

I’ll spend tonight and tomorrow photographing some of my new vintage finds.  I’ll be adding them to my Etsy throughout the week.  Check back for updates!

Progress of Quilt Gestation

Strange title.  It told me it had to be that way.

I posted photos of red prints of one of my recent illustrations.  As I had mentioned, I’ve incorporated it into a red and whilte quilt that I’m building.

Now I have the entire quilt top (measuring 95 by 85 inches) pieces and ready to go.  I have a beautiful backing fabric for it, but I’m on the hunt for the balogne part.  It’ll come, I’m on my way to visit my local Sally Ann.

Anywho, here’s a sneek peek..

Thanks to my friendly neighbourhood Cara I got a bunch of really cool Korean stickers.  I thought they’d work perfectly cast in some resin and glued to a magnet….so that’s precisely what I did!

Here’s a sneek peek at some of them.  For more details you can check out my Etsy.

Just finished up making my first baby quilt.  It’s so soft and cuddly and so darn cute.  If it wasn’t so hot I’d wrap up it right now.

I think I’ll put it as my main feature on my slot for Handmade Kids on Etsy.

Pink Loves Green

Here she is!  Finally!  My first completed quilt.  I love her and I’ll miss her.  She’s going to South Korea with someone else that I love and will miss…my stinky little CaraDee.

It’s totally machine pieced and quilted.  It took me five days of work on and off to complete it.  I made my own bias tape too (which I’m strangely proud of even though it’s extremely simple).

Hot Fruit

I’ve wanted to make soft toys for a long time now.  Months ago I bought a fabulous book called Softies.  Definitely one of the cuter books in my collection.  A while later I bought another book called Plush You.  That put the need for toys in overdrive.

I’ve played around with a few designs that I thought I’d like, but I was never super super pleased with the results.  Then I spent sometime with Photoshop and created a small cast of the worlds most awesomest fruit pack.  I call them Hot Fruit in homage to the notoriously funny show Strangers with Candy (please do not allow small children or your grandmother to watch this program).

Here’s your first chance to meet my newest friends….

I’ll be posting them on my Etsy soon enough.  They’re also being sold at Made 4 You in Kingston, Ontario.

I hope you like them as much as I do!

One Night With a Queen

In the newest issue of Craft there was a short and sweet tutorial for a beautiful yosegire quilt.  I’ve wanted to try quilting for a really long time but I’ve been pretty intimidated by the piecing aspect.  I think this type of quilting is the perfect way to overcome that fear.

Yesterday I hauled my two tubs of scrap fabric into the living room and starting cutting out long strips in all different lengths.  I decided that this would be a fairly light quilt top so I mainly used thrifted bed sheets.

I haven’t decided quite yet if I’ll use old flannelette sheets or actual quilt batting in the middle.  Because I’m not selling this one I could use something that is recycled.

All in all it took me about six hours to cut and sew the to together.  When finished it will fit on a queen sized bed.  Not bad for a first time if I do say so myself.  Here’s a sneak peek.
